School Holiday Program
Every school holidays the GDC presents a school holiday program for all ages! The programs are designed to entertain and educate. For a fun family day out, come up to the GDC and join in the school holiday activities.
A Night at GDC and Launch of our new Dome Projection Movie about Black Holes!
We would like to invite you to spend an evening with us.. On Wednesday the 7th and 14th of July the GDC will offer its first ever night tour. Start with an early dinner at Stargazer’s Café at 5:30 pm followed by a Nightstalk and then, for the Grand Finale, visit the Cosmology Gallery by Torchlight and experience our brand new Dome Projection Movie about Black Holes.
5:30pm-6:30pm Pasta at Stargazer’s
6:30pm-7:30pm Nightstalk (alternative program for rain)
7:30pm-8:30pm Dome Projection Movie in the Cosmology Gallery with Aboriginal Astronomy stories!
All for one low price, which includes all day entry to the GDC.

Of course we will also have our exciting GDC school holiday program during the day.. There will be lots of fun with rockets, tower climbing, blimp flying, kid’s tours and of course Dome Projection Movies!
April 2010 Flying Machines and Night Safaris
Rockets, planes and blimps
Ever wanted to launch a rocket into space? Build your own super plane? Be pilot of a blimp? Come to the Gravity Discovery Centre to discover all of these things and more. We will investigate what sort of rockets do go into space and why. You will take part in a real rocket launch. And make the best ever paper plane.
If that’s not enough then you’ll be able to climb the most leaning tower in the world and drop water balloons from the top, view a model black hole in action, and race solar powered cars on our very own race-track.
There will also be GDC kids tours, yummy lunches at Stargazer’s Cafe, and of course our very popular SAFARI NIGHTS are back on 7th and 14th of April! Bring torches and come hunting in the dark with us.
NIGHT SAFARIS (WEDNESDAYS 7 & 14 APRIL 2010)
Are you brave enough to stalk nocturnal animals in the bush and to gaze into the distant Universe? Come up to the GDC anytime after 9:30 am and enjoy our fun science activities. The Night Safari program starts with a delicious pasta meal; then, bring your torch and join the Gravity Discovery Centre guides on a night safari to spot critters big and small followed by stargazing and games at the Gingin Observatory next door. This is a wonderful holiday activity for the whole family!
The Night Safari ticket includes general entry to the Gravity Discovery Centre and the Leaning Tower of Gingin, all you can eat pasta meal, night safari bush walk and stargazing. An alternative stargazing program will be offered if it’s cloudy. Bring: torches, suitable footwear for walking and warm clothing for stargazing, as well as raincoats and umbrellas if it’s wet.
Wednesdays 7 and 14 April 2010. The Gravity Discovery Centre is open from 9.30am to 5pm. Pasta meals are served at 5pm, night safari is at 6pm and stargazing from 7pm to 9pm. $64 adults, $56 seniors, $36 children (5 to 16 years) and $186 family (2 adults & 2 children). Do you want to drive like a formula 1 driver? Race our zippy little solar cars on our special race track. Then test your skills on our challenge ramp. We also have solar viewing through our special telescope. Inside the shade of the Cosmology Gallery we will launch rockets and engage in a virtual space ship take off. Fantastic fun!
Open every day of the school holidays 9:30 – 5:00pm
Standard entry fees apply: $10.00 per child/ $15.00 per adult/$12 per senior. Family passes available.
Please note that parental supervision of children is required at all times.
