Biodiversity Gallery

The biodiversity gallery is a place where you can see some of our local mini beast, and in some cases not so mini, and plants close up -  some you can even examine under a microscope.

The gallery is undergoing constant updating and with the help of 18 enthusiastic Curtin Volunteers it just had a very colourful redecoration!

As we expand and develop our biodiversity program, the gallery will become and increasingly important part of the GDC and the education we provide.

During the September 09 school holidays, we took visiting children out into the bush on mini beast hunts. Our science presenters encouraged them to investigate under rocks and tree trunks to find mini beast hiding spots. Some of the specimen that were discovered and caught are on display in the gallery.

We recently hosted a nightstalk in conjunction with Perth Zoo and found out a lot about our endangered local species. The near future will hopefully see a section in the Biodiversity Gallery dedicated to that very important issue.
